China (Hongkong) and USA promotes Nepal Tourism Year





 CHINA : A group of Chinese nationals are organizing ´Visit Nepal Culture Festival-2011´ in Zhuhai of Southern China on May 28 and 29 to promote Nepal and Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) campaign.


The group has taken the initiative to promote NTY amid complaints that the government is doing nothing to promote the campaign in China.






 Nepal targets to welcome 100,000 visitors from the northern neighbor in 2011.


The event that will be held at Oxford Street is being organized in the initiation of Simone Xue, founder of TPR International School of Zhuhai.


Hari Shrestha, coordinator of the event, said the event will feature 20 stalls showcasing Nepali handicraft and cuisines, information about tourism products and services in Nepal,Traditional Nepali music, dance and other cultural activities. Nepali entrepreneurs operating business in neighboring cities like Hong Kong and Macau will have stalls at the event.


The event is supported by the Office of Nepali Consul General in Hong Kong and NTY´s goodwill ambassadors Julia Cheng and Lee Tak.
All the expenses incurred during the even will be borne by the Chinese nationals.


UNITED STATES : Nepali Embassy in the United States organized a cultural, tourism and trade promotional program named ´Embassy Open House´ on Saturday.


Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the embassy stated the program was to disseminate information about Nepal´s culture, tourism, education and trade and to promote Nepal Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 campaign.






The event featured exhibition of Nepali handicrafts, pashmina products and food stalls and cultural and traditional attractions. Around 2,500 visitors from Washington and and other neighboring states participated at the fair, according to the statement.


The even saw encouraging participation of Nepalese residing in USA in traditional Nepali attire.
